Arles Gayo's Surrealist LandscapesIllustration // Wednesday, 08 May 2013
Arles Gayo's intricate surrealist landscapes feature characters from either end of the spectrum--some are completely imagined while others are realistic and even familiar. Gayo says of his work that "they are like a little ethereal space where I record the most important events of my life as an emotional symphony where everything interacts in unison." He finds drawing to be an escape from reality. Looking at this drawings, you get the sense that Gayo is translating his internal landscape into a series of marks, trying to record an amorphous emotional state into representational forms.
