Come May 30th, the city of Shiraz, Iran will get its first new media art exhibition. Curated and organized by artists Morehshin Allahyari and Mani Nilchiani, and hosted by Dar-ol-Hokoomeh Project at Shiraz Artist House, Bitrates seeks to expose the public to the potentials of new tech and art. The show includes artists Morehshin Allahyari, Benjamin Bacon, Andrew Blanton, Alex Myers, Brenna Murphy, Ramsey Nasser, Mani Nilchiani, Daniel Rourke, Alfredo Salzar-Caro, Angela Washko. Daniel Rourke, for his part, has curated a show within the show called GIFbites, a website that pairs animated GIFs, which are silent, with sound. The show will include more than 50 artists. We’re looking forward to it.
