In 2001, artist and filmmaker, Matt McCormick created a film connecting graffiti removal with characteristics of abstract expressionism, minimalism and Russian constructivism.  Implying that “buffing” was created by artists who are unconscious of their artistic achievements and deserving of a place in the history of modern art.  The video includes Narration from artist/actor Miranda July and was mostly shot on 16mm.  See more of Matt’s work at his website.
