Félicien Rops (7 July 1833 – 23 August 1898) was a Belgian artist, known primarily as a printmaker in etching and aquatint. Spending most of his life in Paris, Rops founded a satirical weekly entitled ‘Uylenspiegel' in 1856. He engraved and illustrated many literary works including those of Baudelaire and Barbey d'Aurevilly. Considered rather scandalous in his time, Rops' prints are inhabited by the likes of devils, skeletons, prostitutes and Death himself.
