Takato Yamamoto was born in Akita prefecture (Japan) in 1960, where he later refined and developed what would be knows as his “Heisei Esthiticism” style.  Yamamoto is interested in portraying famous occidental myths, such as Salome or Saint Sebastian. His graphic depictions of sex and death are reminiscent of work of English illustrator Aubrey Beardsley, a greatly controversial artist of the Art Nouveau era.
