Sergio Lopez, born in 1983, is a graduate of the Academy of Art in San Francisco. His series entitled "Painted Roses" is a glorious look into the intersection of female and floral form, melding figurative painting with textiles and still life. The pattern of the roses creates an almost fractal oil-on-water effect as it bleeds into the languishing figures of his women. Lopez applies his traditional knowledge of painting outdoors to his conceptual work, creating sensual masterpieces that express the more explicit essence of a rose.
