A long week of art happenings has just concluded in NYC, with The Armory Show being at centerstage. But take a cab ride down to SoHo, and you found yourself at Volta NY, a fair that focused on solo projects from artists represented by galleries from around the world. "By refocusing on artists through solo projects, VOLTA NY promotes a deep exploration of the work of its selected participants and offers the opportunity for discoveries beyond those afforded by a traditional art fair."
For us, it gave you a chance to see full installation and conceptual presentations from a variety of artists, including Devin Troy Strother, Mark Jenkins, Brian Dettmer's book diaromas, Ryan Wallace's beautiful light works at Cooper Cole's booth, and a few other surprises along the way.
