The works of Cosima von Bonin

Juxtapoz // Monday, 13 Dec 2010

One of our favorite exhibitions of the year was Cosima von Bonin at Kunsthaus Bregenz in Bregenz, Austria this past Fall, titled perfectly, The Fatigue Empire. As Contemporary Art Daily wrote at the time, the Fatigue Empire was "unusually epic density, starting with her large canvas paintings and spanning from textile sculptures and estranged reconstructions to voluminous installations."

Germany-based Cosima definitely went big for this show, and the irony that we found at the time, and now, is that even though the show was titled The Fatigue Empire, there was something refreshing and full of energy about the show. It is always difficult in such a big space to create intimate settings, but there is something about the textiles and installations that are very engaging here.

Although the show ended in late October, the work remains some of the strongest of the year in our eyes.
