The "Senseless Drawing Bot"

Juxtapoz // Sunday, 06 Nov 2011

Robots doing expressive human activities has an unsettling feeling to it. For example, robots doing art. These types of crafts are often associated with emotional output and expression, what could be considered as organic, human characteristics.

To see a robot accomplish something like we see here with this type of craft and detail is...strange. It is also impressive and interesting, and a human did make this robot to do these motions to create this artwork, So Kanno and Takahiro Yamaguchi being the specific humans that made this technological art piece. So maybe this isn't so creepy after all. Not too long ago we saw Benjamin Grosser's "Interactive Robotic Painting Machine," maybe this will be a new genre: "Robot Painting."
