The Playboy Commission at Partners & Spade NYCJuxtapoz // Monday, 25 Jul 2011
Right now at Partners & Spade in NYC, Playboy is holding an exhibition of memorabilia and archive prints selected by a special group of commission members (including Ryan McGinness, Jeremy Scott, and André Balazs) through July 29. Some of the prints include Salvador Dali, Keith Haring, Eames, and David LaChapelle.
This year, Playboy launced i.Playboy.com, where subscribers could access the magazines archives. According to ArtInfo, "To commemorate the milestone, Playboy formed a Playboy Commission inviting present-day cultural icons — including many fashion and art personalities — to help curious readers navigate their way through seven decades of content."
The Playboy Commission members selected certain famed fine art inclusions from the Playboy archives, showing the, um, diverse nature of content that Playboy has published over the years. Although it should be noted, Dali had many naked women in his spreads, and LaChapelle had Naomi Campbell as his muse.
