We have long admired the work of Buffalo, New York-born Laylah Ali ever since reading an interview with her in The Believer five years back. Her Greenhead series delves into questions about race, politcs, and class.

As she said in that interview, "My body definitely undergoes the stress and tension of working on the paintings, but that tension is directed into the figures and their exchanges."
