THE NEW YORK ART BOOK FAIR @ MoMA PS1Juxtapoz // Sunday, 07 Oct 2012
Always one of our favorite events in NYC, Juxtapoz checked out the New York Art Book Fair last weekend at the Moma PS1 Museum. The event presented 283 international presses, booksellers, antiquarians, artists, and independent publishers from 26 countries, and is put on by the fantastic Printed Matter of NYC. (Check out Printed Matter's curation of subversive art books in our new November 2012 issue).
With conferences, screenings, book signings, readings and workshops, the fair became the center of the art book universe. The event showed that there is still a lot happening in print, design, paper, ink and hand made books. David Senior – bibliographer at MoMA- said “Part of the working definition of an artist is someone who uses tools in unexpected ways and I think to make a book now is unexpected, or perverse in a funny way, and for people to persist is kind of stubborn, but also practical.”
Juxtapoz' Varenka Ruiz was on the scene, and captured these shots...
