Inge Jacobsen creates embroidery and collage pieces from images used on covers and in adverts of women's high-fashion magazines. Altering images intended and familiar with mass audiences is Jacobsen's intention, who has been inspired by John Baldessari, Vik Muniz, and Aliki Braine.
We think its interesting in that for some of her work with fashion editorials, Inge eliminates the body and face, which bring the actual fashion to the forefront. As Jacobsen notes, "Another theme and concept I’m exploring in my work is the ‘objectness’ of a photograph. By bringing the surface of the image to the attention of the viewer I want them to acknowledge the pieces as objects rather than just images."
