The Confrontation of Things: A Photo Series by Katrina M. d'AutremontJuxtapoz // Wednesday, 16 Nov 2011
Katrina M. d'Autremont is an American born photographer that has bounced back and forth between Argentina and the United States with parents from each of the countries. Her series The Confrontation of Things feels like a group of portraits of everyday items. The items feel used and worn, adding a tinge of sadness to their appearance. Some items suggest a sort of responsibility, while others may be more nostalgic. The confrontation seems to be how we deal with this tinge of sadness and responsibility. Each object has a presence and it is how this presence confronts the viewer through the photograph that the photograph speaks as a visual language.
