The Art of Wayne White

Juxtapoz // Saturday, 20 Aug 2011

Wayne White takes thrift store paintings, initially bad art, and recreates these kitsch items by implementing ironic text that seamlessly become part of the initial canvas, weaving in and out of the cliché landscapes that we are all used to seeing in our dentists' offices. The witty phrases seem to perfectly compliment the humorously tacky imagery. The text supplements the landscape and the landscape supplements the text in a healthy symbiotic relationship.
