Straw Mammoth in Shadoshima, Japan

Musashino Art University on Shodashima, one of the five islands in Japan, celebrated the Triennial Setouchi Art Festival be constructing a mammoth entirely from rice straw donated by local farmers. Displayed in 2012, the straw art is one of the most popular parts of the festival where artists and local residents collaborate on large-scale sculptures. (via)
