Small Gift Features Nationwide Events Celebrating Sanrio's 50th Anniversary

Small Gift: Celebrating 50 Years of Sanrio is launching this fall – a nationwide celebration that will include a cross-country mobile pop-up shop tour and special anchor events in Los Angeles and Miami.


The mobile pop-up shop portion of the Small Gift celebration will launch at the end of October in San Francisco, CA. Specially designed to bring the Sanrio experience to fans, the supercute mobile unit will embark on a cross-country tour, stopping in several cities while making its way to the East Coast. Cities will include Las Vegas, Austin, Atlanta and New York among others.




The pop-up shop will offer a highly edited selection of “50 must have” collectible products, celebrating the legacy of Sanrio and their characters. Several items were developed exclusively for Small Gift and products ranging from special edition tote bags and tees to vinyl figures and laptop sleeves will be available exclusively at the pop-up shop. The mobile unit will also carry iconic Sanrio items and special product collaborations from such companies as Aerial7, Lomography, Mimoco, Loungefly, Girl Skateboard Co., tokidoki and Demeter Fragrance. During the tour, fans will have a chance to meet some of Sanrio’s classic characters, snap photos and participate in special fun activities. The mobile pop-up shop tour will run from late October through mid-December making stops at both anchor events in Los Angeles and Miami.


The Small Gift anchor events in Los Angeles and Miami for all ages. The events will include a character product retrospective, art show, pop-up shop, interactive activities and special event programming throughout the length of the celebration.




The Los Angeles event will launch on November 12 and run through November 21, with nostalgic surprises, such as game booths and prizes, food trucks and an art show including installations from several of the 50 participating artists, each creating their personal interpretation of Sanrio characters.


The Miami event will launch December 2 and run through December 5 to coincide with Art Basel and will be aimed at Sanrio fans and the art community alike. The celebration will feature several elements of the Los Angeles event such as the character product retrospective, pop-up shop and interactive activities while bringing a different set of artists and special art-specific programming to the fans. Both Los Angeles and Miami events will incorporate charitable components specific to each city.
