Simon Beck And His Giant Snow Crop Circles

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, 11 Dec 2013

Simon Beck, an English artist who creates giant snow crop circles, has a background in orienteering and an affinity for the wacky world of geometry. In 2004, Beck began his mesmerizing craft as a form of physical exercise, and since then it has happily grown into something far more amazing and complex. With each year, Beck has expanded the size and complexity of his figures while challenging himself. Wowing the world with his meticulous skill and the fact that each piece, which takes anywhere from 6 hours to 2 days to complete, is made manually by foot.

And like all things temporary, Beck's snow art has a brief lifespan so this is why he takes pictures and shares them with the world. "I hope to spread the message [that] the mountains and snow are beautiful and worth preserving, and there are better things in life than spending so much time doing things you don't want to so that you can spend money you haven't got (yet) to buy things you don't need to impress people you don't like."
