SF Bay Bridge To Get LED'd?Juxtapoz // Monday, 11 Jun 2012
Artist Leo Villareal wants to light up the Bay Bridge and we hope this becomes a reality. He has proposed ad LED light installation consisting of 25,000 white LEDs, spaced a foot apart for the west span of the bridge. The lights will have the function of changing, making abstract patterns based loosely on water, traffic, and weather patterns. The installation would be viewable the northeast of the city, however invisible to drivers crossing the bridge and becoming distracted. If funding is met, “The Bay Lights” will be installed over four to six months starting this summer. The lights would be up for two years with daily performances from dusk until midnight!
