Sebastian Cosor's Animation of "The Scream"

Juxtapoz // Saturday, 24 Nov 2012

Edward Munch's The Scream is an unanimously recognizable artwork for common folk and art lovers alike. One of Munch's pastels of the image is up there with the highest art sales to date going for nearly 120 million dollars (it is the highest in dollar amount but eight in value when adjusted for inflation).

So it is not surprising that Romanian artist Sebastian Cosor has animated this classic dreamscape originally created by the famed Norwegian painter. This lively retake of the vibrantly hued yet psychologically dark image is set to Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky" and moves you through the space Munch created back  in the turn of the twentieth century, offering a surprisingly interactive view of this familiar icon of Western art.
