Richard Jackson's "The LIttle Girl's Room" @ David Kordansky Gallery, LA

Juxtapoz // Saturday, 15 Oct 2011
Running until October 20th is Richard Jackson's The Little Girl's Room at David Kordansky Gallery. The show is Jackson's first solo show in Los Angeles in 20 years. Jackson, if you are not yet familiar, is known for his innovation and experimentation within painting. He has been recreating the physical act and the conceptual grounds for painting since the 1970s. The show is playful and sexually provocative.

The centerpiece of the show is a unicorn balancing on its horn with a young girl embracing the mythical creature. The unicorn periodically sprays paint across the room from its genitals, using paint as a "vital fluid" using three dimensional objects as the medium for the paint, furthering the idea of what is painting and how painting can be executed. Stop by before the 20th and see it for yourself.
