About RenÃ© Almanza
(Monterrey Nuevo LeÃ³n, 1979.) Rene graduated from Visual Arts, he started his work during his teen years in the comic industry, underground fanzines and later working as an illustrator for various Monterrey newspapers.
He received 6 editorial illustration awards from the New York based SND (Society for the newspaper design). Worked for 3 years with Reforma (the most important Mexican newspaper), then worked for “Shinsnken” in Tokyo, a world folk story collection of illustrated books.
He has exhibited at Fifty24SF, 111 Minna Gallery, and several galleries in Monterrey and Oaxaca, where he now lives and works developing with other artists artecocodrilo.com, a webpage dedicated to promoting projects and exhibitions from young Mexican artists.
