The Art of Raúl GonzalezJuxtapoz // Wednesday, 27 Aug 2014
As a kid I'd grab Mad magazines and immediately look for the tiny cartoons that lined the margins. when i realized that Mad artist Sertio Aragones also did a comic book, Groo the Wanderer, I was hooked. Twenty years later I met El Paso-born and Boston-based artist Raul Gonzalez, a founding member of the local art collective Miracle 5. Raul's stoic cartoon Injuns were hitting that same orange optic nerve. A comic artist whose fine art repurposes many of comics' aesthetics and techniques, Raul has been challenging the dry staid of Boston art.
