After the success of the Maurice Sendak retrospective at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in 2009, the San Francisco museum just opened another intriguing exhibition, Curious George Saves the Day: The Art of Margaret and H.A. Rey. For anyone of this generation and generations prior, everyone has a place for Curious George in their lives.

The exhibition features nearly 80 original drawings from husband and wife team of Margaret and H.A. Rey of the beloved monkey and other characters, preparatory dummy books, vintage photographs, and documentation related to the Reys’ escape from Nazi Europe, as well as a specially designed reading room for visitors of all ages.

This show is in our backyard, and we will be attending in the coming weeks with more pictures and exhibition views.

More in the magazine in upcoming months.
