Photos from Half Assed, Todd Bratrud's solo show at Fifty24SF in San Francisco, CA. The exhibit opened Thursday, September 6th. Isaac McKay-Randozzi brings us another set of delightful photos and a mini-review of the show.

Sarcasm, boobs, humor both crass and crude, and a large body of work are what fill the upper gallery of Fifty24SF for the next month. Two rooms of this recent expansion are filled with the work of the long-haired, scarf-wearing illustrator and blogger Todd Bratrud. Each section of the show is composed of different groupings; framed black and white preliminary drawings of graphics for skate decks; with the skated decks next to the framed pieces. Another section has framed animals and F.W. Murnau's Dracula floating in a yellow pee-like fluid. In a time when people can take art a little too seriously, Mr. Bratrud's work is a nice reminder of the silliness in life. The volume of work in the show is immense, with a full spectrum of the variety and content we expect from him. Walking through the space was almost like taking a course in how illustrations should be done; each subject given their own personality and distinct, individual appearance while retaining the style of the artist. When you see one of his works, you know it's a Todd Bratrud. A mild detraction is the number of pieces in the same format and limited range of media, but since it is obvious that he's prolific, I'm sure we'll see more from him in the future. I can't wait.

SLAP Magazine's newest addition Judd Hertzler and a broken Jay Howell both agree that Todd is one of the funniest people since Ernie Kovaks (www.youtube.com =) and has more humor in his little toe than half of Congress.
