Photos of a 1946 Nuclear Test

Juxtapoz // Thursday, 14 Mar 2013

Some new photos have surfaced of the United States nuclear weapons Operation Crossroads, conducted in 1946 off the coast of Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Two bombs were detonated underwater that resulted in a 900ft vertical column of water. These images were taken 3.5 miles away from the island's beach, still uninhabitable due to the radiation.
