Sometimes you just have to applaud a great idea turned good piece of work; Kyle Bean for a recent issue of Handmade Magazine, art directed the contributor section with pencil shaving portraits of the respective contributors.

We can barely use a pencil, little arrange the shaving into a coherent portrait.
