Paintings by Nathalie du PasquierJuxtapoz // Tuesday, 09 Jul 2013
Nathalie du Pasquier's still life pantings depict interior spaces with a repetition of forms and a flattened three-dimensionality that reminds us simultaneously of the still life paintings of Giorgio Morandi with attention to composition and compressed space as well as the early works of Lucian Freud with distorted perspective and obsessive attention to detail responding to a perception of what it is to see the object in the real. Nathalie Du Pasquier was born in Bordeaux France in 1957 and has lived in Milano since 1979. She worked as a designer creating decorative patterns for textiles, carpets, plastic laminates, and furniture and objects. In 1987, painting became her main practice.
