Paintings by Harry Hill

Juxtapoz // Thursday, 29 Dec 2011
Although Harry Hill is not known primarily as a painter, he does paint regularly. An avid television watcher, Hill compiles stories and images from popular media utilizing magazines like Hello! for reference images as well as newspaper articles of heartwarming stories. The painting titled Long Live Love romanticizes the story of a shipwrecked labrador that swam to shore in order to be reunited with his owners. Hill relives these strange and sometime ugly moments in the media through painting, reexamining what influence the overwhelming influx of popular culture has on our consciousness.
