Paco Pomet "Horns and Tales" @ Richard Heller Gallery, Santa Monica

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, 19 Oct 2011

We have written about the work of Paco Pomet on the site before, saying the Granada-born artist made work that looked like slightly off portraits from a 1950's sci-fi, Cold War film set. The artist is set to open a solo show, Horns and Tales, at Richard Heller Gallery in Santa Monica on Saturday, October 29.

Heller writes about the show, "On this occasion Pomet uses the concept of Animal in a wide sense to take us into his unique visual world where the depicted situations reworks his sources to build ineffable images where the absurd, the grotesque and the humorous find unexpected ways to lead the viewer lose their ordinary meaning. Using archival, vintage or amateur photography as a reference to recent culture, Pomet away from assumed inertias. The work presented in this new series places the animal in the key role to tell stories about our ancient, chimeric and inevitable aspiration to reality."
