New Paintings by MARGARITA GEORGIADISJuxtapoz // Tuesday, 26 Jun 2012
We just ran into a new body of work from Margarita Georgiadis, who just showed at Edwina Corlette Gallery in Brisbane, Australia this past May. A mixture of abstract flashes mixed with figurative elements of flashing moments caught on canvas, Georgiadis' work is both haunting and refreshing, a nice collection of oil on canvas works that are both psychological and physical.
As Edwina Gallery notes, "For Margarita Georgiadis, the process of painting resembles that of writing a book. In her work we discover a record of life which finds resonance through its unfolding. Each of these paintings relate to her complete oeuvre, but they also singularly explore a particular period or facet of experience that is crystallized by its title and gives a sense of episode or chapter similar to that of a vignette in a narrative."
