Meet The Window Lady: Janay RoseJuxtapoz // Friday, 23 May 2014
One of a kind herself, Janay Rose, aka The Window Lady, makes gloriously elaborate necktie clothing & hats, using all recycled materials, inspired by colonial menswear, as well as 1800-1980s clothing and fashion history. With all her unique experience working in various costume shops and window displays over the years, The Window Lady clothing has a psychedelic organic theatrical feel, featuring ornate details of lace, spoons, measuring tape, clocks, keys, fringe, buckles and antique buttons. Her creations have been sold in the Bay Area in a variety of boutiques for the last decade and has been showcased in various photo shoots and shows, including The Yard Dogs Roadshow, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Vermillion Lies.
If you want a closer look, and we know that you do, you can find The Window Lady monthly at the art murmur in Oakland, the Treasure Island Flea Market, the Alameda Point Antique Faire and her new showroom at the secret-not-so-secret 5th Ave. Marina in Oakland.
