Kaws Reimagines Iconic MTV Video Music Awards' MoonmanJuxtapoz // Tuesday, 09 Jul 2013
Kaws is no stranger to embedding himself in popular culture, albeit through his own lens and artistic style. The NYC-based artist has seen his work in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, on Kanye West albums, and other fashion house identities. Recently, the artist was tasked with the project to reimagine the iconic MTV Moonman statue, given out to winners at the Video Music Awards. Seeing that the MTV VMA's used to be the standard bearer of all things Generation X, or Y, or whatever, where you got to see Nirvana call out Guns N' Roses while the adults watched Phil Collins take home another Grammy, we think this is a great project to take on.
The VMA's will take place on Sunday, August 25, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. (via MTV)
