It's Gettin' Hot in Here: Jonathan LeVine Annual Summer Invitational Recap
Juxtapoz // Sunday, 08 Aug 2010Half the gallery featured a group exhibition, dubbed Two-Way Street, in partnership with Brazil-based Choque Cultural. Every year, the curators of Choque present some of the best established and up-and-coming artists coming out of South America. This year the talent included work by Chivitz, NOVE, Presto, and Ramon Martins. The body of work consisted of everything from graffiti-style figures on canvas to abstract design on thick wood panels.
The main gallery featured a bevy of work from relative newcomers that have impressed the gallery over the years, but have never shown there. Artists included, Alex McLeod, Andrew Hem, Becca Midwood, EVOL, Judith Supine, Lola, Marco Mazzoni, Morgan Slade, Nate Frizzell, Nicoletta Ceccoli, Oliver Warden, Oscar de las Flores, and Tran Nguyen. The type of art ran the gamut of styles and media with a little something for just about every art fan.
