Erin Waxman and Megan Brewster of Art Star Gallery in Philadelphia approached artist Isaac Bushkin with the idea of painting a mural for their space back in September. It was done in their basement, as part of the gallery's expansion, and to celebrate their two year anniversary. The piece took three days. Isaac painted it during his final days living in Philadelphia (He recently relocated to Columbus, OH.) The mural is on view at the gallery. Isaac sent us some photos & words about the process.

The blank wall. I stood there for a few minutes. I looked at my sketches. It was intimidating to say the least. I don't get to work so large most of the time. But it was pretty exciting and I do love the freedom.

Taped off edges for a clean look. Laying down a foundation.

That haze is spray paint in the air. I should have taken more breaks during this part of the process. You definitely get light headed.

Starting on the flowers

It's coming along

Throw in some happy little creatures ... with two faces.

Some hours, er...days later, a final product.

A close up.
