This past Sunday, Artist Gary Baseman and Curator Kate Stern invited me to the preview party for the 2011 Frostig Collection. The Frostig Collection is an ongoing edition series of sculptures and works on paper created by world-renowned artists. Proceeds from the sale of Frostig Collection editons are used to fund the vital social skills program at the Frostig Center, a Pasadena non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the needs of children with learning disabilities.
The list of artists involved in previous collections is nothing short of amazing: Ed Moses, Larry Bell, Gary Baseman, Nancy Rubins, Lita Albuquerque and Frank Gehry, to name a few. This year's artists are Chris Burden, David Buckingham, Gwynn Murrill and Chris Piazza. There will be a public viewing of the pieces at William Turner Gallery come the new year. Following are a few images from the preview party.
