This weekend I stopped by the opening reception of Beta Release: Experiments in Video, Sound + Performance at Phantom Galleries in Long Beach. This is an amazingly curated show consisting of sculpture, sound, video and performance and definitely something you should experience in person.
"Beta Release: Experiments in sound, video + performance is a one-week event inviting the viewer to actively engage with a variety of time-based works. From Jeff Foye & Gordon Winiemko’s playful exploitation of filmic conventions, to Christopher O’Leary’s ostensive super-power “documentation” films. From J. Frede’s electronic experiments in translating digital images into digital audio, to Georg Burwick’s collection of iPhone video stills of unfamiliar familiar stomping grounds to shea M gauer's environmentally focused Oil and Water installation. All these works offer explorations into the many ways evolving technology continues to shift our perceptions and the means by which we engage the world around us."
