Jazz has been an inspiration to visual artists since its beginnings. From early twentieth century painters like Stuart Davis to contemporary artists featured in our magazine like Ian Johnson, jazz music and the talented individuals that create it provide a lively and fascinating subject to capture and recreate. Edward Cheverton is an illustrator and student at Brighton University who has developed a style that is heavily influenced by this timeless musical muse. Also pulling inspiration from comic books and other outside influences beyond the world of art, Cheverton combines practices of collage, painting, and drawing to express his love and fascination with experimental jazz.
