Hideaki Kawashima just opened a new solo show, Turning, this past weekend at Richard Heller Gallery, and the work looks quite impressive. The Japanese artist created over a dozen acrylic on canvas portraits, a very subdued series with emphasis on the eyes.
Of course, being that Kawashima studied with Yoshimoto Nara, we are always into a new series of works. We just read that Kawashima served a two-year stint as a Buddhist monk, which is very intriguing. ![]()
