Have him do your photo issue: Tim Barber's "Untitled Photographs" at OHWOW MiamiJuxtapoz // Friday, 12 Nov 2010
Tim Barber is the guy you want curating your photography section, site, or issue. Or maybe you just want him to shoot the photos for you? He's good at that, too. This photo probably won't be in the show, but there are going to be some other good photographs in Tim Barber's Untitled Photographs, opening at OHWOW in Miami tomorrow, Saturday, November 13.
How would you know Tim Barber? He runs a fantastic photo blog, Tiny Vices, that we frequent. Those Tiny Vices group photography shows have been taken around the world, and are always highly acclaimed. He is also the former photo editor of Vice Magazine, and he has his own blog of photography as well.
What has made Barber stand out in recent years is his ability to find up-and-coming photography talent, not just in America, but around the world. But for Untitled Photographs, the focus will be on Barber's own photography work.
OHWOW told us of the show, "Expanding on amateur aesthetics, these images can feel as much like spontaneous documentation of the artist’s adventures as careful compositions. The line between autobiography and fiction is as ethereal as the overall tone of the work. In the case of Barber’s photography, ambiguity is seductive, and the lure of fantasy eclipses the security of literality."
The show opens this Saturday, November 13, and runs through November 27. The following Barber photographs are probably not in the show, but we like them anyway.
