Hanna Liden and Nate Lowman at Salon 94 in NYCJuxtapoz // Monday, 27 Dec 2010
We have spent the past few days thinking of current shows that are up that we think people should go check out, and one is in NYC at Salon 94. Hanna Liden and Nate Lowman have teamed up for Come As You Are Again, an exhibition that will be up until January 12, 2011. The press for the show has some humor in it as well: "They do not trade books or music, nor go to the movies together, but by New York standards they are inseparable."
The show itself focues upon the ten-year friendship between both Liden and Lowman, although this is their first collaborative project. Together "Together, Liden's self portraits and Lowman's Abu Ghraib painting flip from light hearted prank to serious horror." Lowman works is based on newspaper and printed findings, like the gravestone above, and Liden's work is based off of assembling and photographing "spray-painted and snuffed candles or handfuls of plastic fangs in still-live."
Thanks to Slamxhype for the reminder.
