Gregory Bojorquez ".45 Point Blank" @ Hardhitta Gallery, LA

Juxtapoz // Friday, 08 Jun 2012

Photographer Gregory Bojorquez, who we spent time with last year at MOCA's Art In the Streets, is set to open a solo show of new photographs at Hardhitta Gallery in Los Angeles this Saturday, June 9. The show is in a pop-up space located across the street from the LACMA.

“.45 Point Blank" - curated by Bene Taschen - is a retrospective of the photographer Gregory Bojorquez beginning in 1992 through 2011. The gritty, street-level work features the kind of grimy glamour that is Bojorquez’ calling card. From Boyle Heights to Beverly Hills, Bojorquez' ability to capture the essence of such a disparate group of subcultures signals a major photographic tour de force. Part of the show will unveil a dramatic five-picture series of a recent real-life shootout on the streets of Hollywood.

Bene Taschen, the son of art publisher Benedikt Taschen, already featured a collection of Bojorquez' work entitled "Streets of L.A." in HARDHITTA exhibitions in Cologne and Berlin.
