Gina Ruggeri's Spatial Illusions

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, 06 Aug 2013

Trompe l'oeil, is an art technique that creates the optical illusion that depicted objects exist in three dimensions. A comparable illusion would be 'forced perspective', a technique used in architecture. Artist Gina Ruggery has employed the technique in her paintings on gallery walls, creating eye-catching images of logs, stones and smokes that seem to both disappear and emerge from the walls.
