Francesca Pasquali's 3D Straw Sculptures

Italian artist Francesca Pasquali cuts plastic draws at varying lengths and arranges them in patterns to create her sculptures. The seemingly simple concept results in a visually captivating and textured landscape. Francesca relates her work with plastic to ideas in the natural world saying, "The technique of interlacing [plastic] …makes it live again in the shape of sculpture, which spreads out towards the space around, creating various texturized effects. Observing nature itself, I transfer the essential being of it. The interlacing forms transform the industrial material into soft and sensual shapes."
