Polly Penrose: "A Body Of Work"

Erotica // Tuesday, November 25, 2014
We know this isn't traditionally known as "erotica," but because of the NSFW nature, it resides in this section. But Polly Penrose's serios "A Body Of Work" has such a command of color, structure and form, and we love her comment that "It feels like I’m hammering my body into the landscape of the room, one picture at a time."

The Erotic Works of Beijing's Zhang Jingna

Erotica // Monday, November 24, 2014
When we saw that Kris Kuksi named Beijing-born artist Zhang Jingna as his favorite artist in Joshua Liner Gallery's "Your Favorite Artist's Favorite Aritst," we were intrigued to find out more about the now NYC-based photographer. And what we found were some dark, cinematic, personal and commericial works that span the globe.

New Work from Gloria Pizzilli

Erotica // Thursday, November 20, 2014
Gloria Pizzilli is one of our favorite up and coming illustrators, and her latest work is a lovely fit in our erotica section. Featuring gorgeous dark pallettes of purples and blues, Pizzilli builds up her digital compositions with textures and shapes that feel tactile though computer generated. These particular works have a lovely erotic undertone, focusing on the darker edges of sexuality.

Sarah Anne Johnson "Wonderlust"

Erotica // Wednesday, November 05, 2014
Sarah Anne Johnson has been featured in the magazine in the past with her spectacular series, "Arctic Wonderland." Her newer series, "Wonderlust," is a little bit of a wonderland in its own way, a mixture of intimacy and surrealism mixed into photography. The Winnipeg artist worked on this series throughout 2012 and 2013, and we threw in a few other photos from her that come from a similar place.

Jonas Lindstroem for Tissue No 5

Erotica // Wednesday, November 05, 2014
A beautiful series of nude photos from Berlin and London based photographer Jonas Lindstroem, utilizing simple bold color blocks and shadows to create the compelling looks. Lindstroem has a ton of great and abstract fashion series' under his belt, but this one in particular caught our eye this morning.

The Photography of Davis Ayer

Erotica // Monday, November 03, 2014
We had been seeing the works of Davis Ayer on the web in recent weeks, and finally were able to put a name to the work of this Los Angeles based photographer. With a combination of double exposure and psychedelic swashes throughout the various photo series, we can't wait to see what Ayer has next.

Surreal Erotica by Czech artist, Karel Teige

Erotica // Wednesday, October 29, 2014
Not only a Czech essayist, Dadaist, and influential leader of the Czech Surrealist, as well as an architect, painter, writer, social activist, a key figure of typographic aesthetics ... Karel Teige was all of these things, but today we will focus on the more erotic works. His collection of collages were both provocative and surreal, and show Teige as not only a talented artist, but adept at social criticism as well.
