Brisbane-based Leah Emery was working for a video game developer when some explicitly pornographic spam kept skipping past her email filters. She was drawn to it, but wasn't sure how she wanted to incorporate it into her art until she decided to start experimenting with cross stitching, a medium unfamiliar to her at the time.

This is one of our favorite series we have come across in quite some time, and Chris Verene is a great photographer that we just learned about recently. It's a creepy series, following groups of men who somehow lure young women into modeling nude by placing ads in the classified sections pretending to be fashion photographers. It's seedy beyond belief, but incredibly investigated by Verene.

We have been long-time fans of Petra Mrzyk and Jean-François Moriceau's illustrations. Working collaboratively since 1998, the Châtillon-sur-Indre, France-based artists are known for their "detailed black-and-white ink drawings, their work teeters on the absurd, humorous, and perverse. With an ironic nod to commercial illustration, comics, and graphic design, they pluck imagery from contemporary visual culture. In their work, anything becomes possible. Animals take on human traits; inanimate objects disturbingly come to life; and the surreal is the norm."

We wanted to make a film that wasn’t about watching sex, but instead, triggered memories of the way you felt when emotionally surrendered with a partner. That moment where you let go of judgment or self-consciousness and just open yourself up to impulse and desire.

From a series titled "Celebrity Cunnilingus" which combines "men women potentially view as sexy with an under-represented sexual act" to a series of paintings of un-cropped stills taken from vintage porn films made during the Golden Age of Porn that was launched with the well-known "Deep Throat," Alexandra Rubinstein questions progression in sexuality and value placed on female pleasure as pornography become more accessible and mainstream.

We have had some of these portraits in our desktop folder that reads "Check Out More" for a few weeks now, and I just love this series of powerful and bold portraits by Jo Schwab. There is such clarity in each shot, and each model, nude or otherwise, has such command and unique being that you can't help but want to take time on each photo.

Laura Krifka explores the subject of transgression and punishment through painting, film, sculpture and video. Her most recent exhibition at CB1 Gallery, Reap the Whirlwind, was a show wrapped in the language of seduction, beauty and the sublime, set against a backdrop of a classic American landscape.

Ever since we saw the work of Russian photographer Andrew Pashis' work in Taschen's fantastic "The Erotic Photography 2", we have been on a mission to learn more about the man. And you know what? There isn't much out there! He is a mystery to us, and besides the photo spread you see above, or search has yielded minimal results. What we have found is a bizarre collection of nudes, summer time fun, and almost hostile vibes.

We have been following the photography of Logan White for a long time, and again, through the fantastic new book, Desire: New Erotic Photography (Prestel), we came across her series, "LA Nudes." Logan has always created a very surreal experience when it comes to her subjects, and as you can see from her exhibition history, she has taken the work to a fine art level. Great stuff.

We will start by saying we don't know much about the works of Noritoshi Hirakawa, but we found a new series of the Jaoanese photographers work in a great new book by Prestel, "Desire: New Erotic Photography" and wanted to share some of our favorite works from the collection. Hirakawa comes first...
