Kira Leigh's Erotic Grotesque

Erotica // Wednesday, April 11, 2012
Kira Leigh is a Boston based artist and illustrator who's work 'investigates issues of identity in the world and of the self.' She states 'Co-morbidity, issues of depression, feminism, body dysmorphia and self-harm are some topics of interest that I pursue. I often use systems of gaming and pop culture references to create an identifiable, often spontaneous, visual vocabulary...'

Keith P. Rein (The P is for Penis) (NSFW)

Erotica // Wednesday, April 11, 2012
Illustrator and designer Keith P. Rein, aka The P is for Penis, received his BFA from the University of Georgia in 2006 with a focus in photography. On the creation of his rather unique and titillating studio name, Rein says: "My wife and I were brainstorming a moniker for my sexy work... I've always signed my work with my middle initial, and out of the blue she chuckles 'Keith P. Rein - the P is for penis. And now it's stuck (but not in a bad way)."

Bei Badgirl

Erotica // Tuesday, April 10, 2012
It's hard to tell if it's a case of "art reflects life" or "life reflects art" with Australian artist Bei Badgirl, her acrylic paintings of buxom mermaids and lingerie-clad girls totally echoing her pop personality and aesthetic: bubbly and hyper-feminine, with a hint of erotic sass. Her sexy/cute handy work will be showing at Hasbro's "My Little Pony Project 2012" exhibit, opening May 5th at Toy Art Gallery in Los Angeles.

Fashion Fetish

Erotica // Tuesday, April 10, 2012
In conjunction with SHOWstudio Shop's 2012 exhibition "Selling Sex," SHOWstudio has commissioned a series of short films, performances, and multi-media pieces created entirely by women working in the fashion industry that explore the often contentious and provocative fusion of fashion and fetish. The first film in this series, "Fuck Me," is directed by Ruth Hogben and features model Karlie Kloss.

Javier Godoy

Erotica // Tuesday, April 10, 2012
Based in Murcia, Spain, artist Javier Godoy graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos in Valencia with a degree in Fine Art. A self-professed perfectionist, Godoy is obsessed with every aspect of the art-making process from composition to finish. His tightly composed and loosely stylized images also posses a wickedly wry sense of humor (we're looking at you, pin-up wookie).

Dreams of Grandeur

Erotica // Tuesday, April 10, 2012
The vast anonymity that certain artists hold can be quite maddening, especially if your desire is to understand their craft or read into their expression on a level deeper than the surface of the Internet (like for the purpose of a feature, ha!). Artist and illustrator 'Dreams of Grandeur' falls into that category, as a creative whom we know nothing about, other than that the complexity and appeal of their visual output is quite intriguing. Thank you...

Ryan Whittier Hale's Bodies

Erotica // Monday, April 09, 2012
The work of mixed-media artist Ryan Whittier Hale is futuristically dreamy, vividly lush and surreal. Ryan Hale is both a photographer and video artist, born 1985 in San Francisco, California. He received his BFA in Design and Technology at Parsons School of Design in New York and is currently living and workingin New York. I love the bizarre aesthetic he is pushing forward in this series of androgynous Body Harvests.

Selling Sex at ShowStudio

Erotica // Monday, April 09, 2012
'It is a well known fact that the majority of images we consume are created by men, and too often is feminism an easy target for commodification in the wider context of contemporary culture. SHOWstudio has decided to examine this ‘self-other’ relationship and curate an exhibition about sex, as seen exclusively from a female perspective.'

Jace Wallace's Erotic Muses

Erotica // Monday, April 09, 2012
Concept artist and erotic illustrative specialist, Jace Wallace, has found an outlet creating lustful, digitally rendered feminine muses. He does so with such consistent ease, varying their quiet, somber narratives, creating portraits of gorgeous vixens that are overflowing with desire and visual appeal.

Ziegfeld Girls

Erotica // Monday, April 09, 2012
In their time, Ziegfeld Girls were esteemed as paragons of beauty, elegance, and glamour, and no photographer was better able to capture the sparkling qualities of these Ziegfeld Follies showgirls than Alfred Cheney Johnston. After his death in 1971, a large cache of artistic, daring, and un-retouched nude images was discovered in his home: too provocative for the 1920's, but just right for the 21st century.
