UV Erotica by Robert Babylon

Erotica // Friday, January 09, 2015
Robert Babylon has been creating erotic photography for 15 years, capturing everything from raunchy bondage to soft, sensual black-and-whites celebrating the human body, ever since he became bored of his work at the British National Space Programme. Taking a risk, he followed his passion for photography -- a hobby since he was 15 -- teaming up with his equally open-minded wife, Caroline Martin, to create erotic art.

Marilyn Minter: PLUSH

Erotica // Tuesday, January 06, 2015
Marilyn Minter has long been one of the most talented and alluring of hyperreal painters, and her depictions of the female form are almost surreal in their finished state. Now, well, she has focused her attention on pubic hair, both in painting and photography, and we mean lots of pubic hair, in a new book called "Plush," for which there were only a limited edition of 500 printed with 10 deluxe copies, published by Richard Prince's Fulton Ryder book shop.

Bettina Rheims "Just Like a Woman"

Erotica // Monday, January 05, 2015
Renowned photographer Bettina Rheims had her first exhibition in 1981, featuring strip-tease artists and acrobats. She discovered her love of photography after working as a model, and later as a journalist and art dealer. For her series 'Just Like a Woman,' "Rheims shoots her models from above for the first time, placing them in a closer and more intimate relationship to herself. She captures the women waking up in the morning, still half-asleep in the throes of a beautiful agony between pleasure and suffering… What they feel in this fleeting moment can only be read in their eyes."

Best of 2014: Pink, A series by Prue Stent

Erotica // Tuesday, December 30, 2014
Let's take a moment to celebrate the color pink, in all its glory, in all its rare use in the natural world or art in general. For some reason, seeing this great series of Pink by Melbourne's Prue Stent made us realize just how rare pjnk is used, or better yet, how rare it is that pink is used well. From Staged Photography, "The themes of her photography center around femininity and the struggle of identity in women. The color pink is used to represent femininity either physically or emotionally throughout her work."

Best of 2014: Photographs by Hermann Försterling

Erotica // Monday, December 29, 2014
Hermann Försterling is a German painter and photographer whose photographs of the human body we have been admiring for the last couple weeks. Using a copper plate etching technique that transfers the photographs to hand-made papers, the artists creates often uncomfortable images of an almost corpselike presentation of the human body. At the same time, the photographs are a beautiful celebration of the human form. Be sure to explore his site for more work!

Rebecca Morgan’s Ceramic Bumpkins

Erotica // Monday, December 29, 2014
We’ve seen countless artists who are known for drawing and painting start experimenting with ceramics recently, and Rebecca Morgan makes the transition particularly well. Her drawings of wild, unusual characters work translate beautifully into clay, making her signature “Bumpkins” feel even more alive.

Rosie O'Laskey by Todd Pendu

Erotica // Wednesday, December 24, 2014
The shoot with LA-based model Rosie O'Laskey and I went quite well as we walked through the backstreets among the warehouses and industrial garages of Bushwick in Brooklyn, NY. Rosie was wearing only heels and a long black coat over underwear and stockings. At times we were shooting her half-naked with workers just around the corner having no idea we were there.

Embroidery Butts, Breasts, and Maybe Some Junk by Sally Hewett

Erotica // Tuesday, December 23, 2014
Tis the season. Think about it. Grandpa opens his package, and instead of a coxy blanket, he gets a pair of embroidered breasts. We think this is safer than a nudie mag subscription. UK-based Sally Hewett creates embroidered art of our privates, from breasts to butts to junk and more. She even leaves a little hair in there for authenticity.
