We couldn't figure out which photograph to lead with, either David Sykes' "Death Pop," or his fantastic balloon-as-English breakfast piece. We think that the Death Pop, skull as popsicle piece wins on the "summertime" kick.

We learned about Sykes' work after seeing that he shot a cover for Monocle, and when we saw his portfolio, there is a bunch of really great, well-conceived photo shoots. We like the popsicles, but also the bizarre food pieces.
