Crystal was born in Baltimore, Maryland, where she began her exploration in art by drawing imaginative birds. Thirteen years later she moved to Pennsylvania where painting and creative writing became her primary focus as an artist.

Crystal studied art in Pennsylvania, Atlanta, and Tennessee, among others and has participated in residencies in Joshua Tree and Poland. She is currently Assistant Professor of Art, printmaking area head, Auburn University Montgomery. Upcoming events include: Anchor Graphics Artist Residency, Columbia College, Chicago, June 2010, and solo installation, "Plastic Grotto", scheduled for "Window on Broad", during Philagrafika and SGC at The University of Arts, Philadelphia, PA, March 2010.

All accolades aside, what we love about her work is the simultaneous chaos and precision utilized in every multi-dimensional piece. References to nature, anatomy, and landscape terrain keep our eyes bouncing around each work until we become dizzy.
